About e-mail sign-off's etiquette/电子邮件的签名礼仪 About e-mail sign-off's etiquette I noticed this from the article 'Yours Truly,' the E-Variations and the comments at Kottke and LifeHacker to the article. From the comments, you can see some interesting sign-offs listed as below: 1. Peace in the Middle East, 2. Your bored-at-work Texan coder, Nels 3. All the Best, Best, Cheers, Regards and Kind Regards, 4. All your base are belong to us, -Cats 5. You're an asshole and I don't want to receive another email from you ever again, 6. ciao, Some people think "Best" is smarmy and pompous. "xoxo"(Hugs and Kisses) has become common even for those in decidedly nonamorous relationships. For the "Thanks" sign-off, if you express your thanks in the e-mail body, then the sign-off should be "Thanks again”,should not be “Thanks”. From the article and comments, I conclude some rules on sign-offs: 1. Do differentiate formal commercial e-mail from informal non-commercial e-mails. 2. Don't mistype the comma as a period. 2. Informal e-mail messages don't require sign-offs. 2. Pick your style and stick to it So here list the sign-offs that I use: 1. Regards, (used from unfamiliar person) 2. Thanks ,Thanks again (used for normal people) 3. Soon, ( used for continued back-and-forth e-mails) 4. Have a relaxing weekend, (used on Friday ) |
